Social Networking

Hi everyone! Here is my week 2 blog, referencing social networking.

Q: Do different social networking sites offer different benefits and drawbacks?

A: I strongly believe that different social networking sites offer different benefits and drawbacks. Instead of typing this out, let me show you in this informational diagram that I created:

To conclude my point, I think all kinds of social medias and social networking sites have different kinds of pros and cons to them, but I think that it ultimately is up to the individual and what they want to get out of it.

Q: Do social networking sites have any responsibility in promoting mental health in their users? If so, how might they go about doing so?

A: Social networking sites have an extreme amount of responsibility it promoting mental health for their users. Social media has always been said influence people's mental health and cause addiction to cell phones and devices. I would deem it important as a social media brand to take account the users mental health and well being and to understand what parts of their social media are influencing people and in what way. A good way to do this is to include posts and information that talks about promoting mental health, and also keeping the amount of inappropriate and hurtful posts/information out of the social media streams and websites.

Here is an example of a social media platform taking a users enjoyment and feelings about their platform into account:

I think this needs to be a more common thing in social networking platforms.
